In the words of the artist: “This artwork began as a sketch that I made many versions of until it felt right. The idea was to portray a woman in the midst of an act of creation. Around her, evidence of life, regrowth and abundance is all around her. She is calm, centered and powerful as she stands part of nature, but also transcending it through an act of reason and intention. This act of creation could mean many things and have multiple meanings. To me, power coming out of her hands is very descriptive of the role of what an artist does, creating something from nothing. Creation could also mean setting out intentions to create any one of her desires. Her hair is a soft lavender grey symbolizing timelessness, and her belt is decorated with the ancient Egyptian Ankh, a symbol of life.”
