“This unique piece leans into the darker side of fairy tales. If you are familiar with the story of Rapunzel, it is the story of a young maiden cursed by an evil witch to live her days in solitude in a very high tower. One day, a prince hears her singing and she lets down her long hair for him to climb up. When the witch finds out, she throws Rapunzel from the tower, and is blinded by some thorns on the way down. Rapunzel spends a dark time surviving in the woods for a while until she finds the prince. Her tears of joy when she find him restore her sight. Here, I imagine the time she spent in the wilderness.”
